Lack of rail service halts Kaleden fruit

Shipment of fruit from the Kaleden Co-op cold storage has been held up for the past week by lack of railroad service. Some 85,000 boxes of apples are still being held in storage, including Winesap, Delicious, Newtown, Mcintosh, Sptizenberg and Sayman. Condition is remarkably good, considering that all fruit was in a riper condition than usual when received in cold storage.

New Canadian physical activity guidelines released

The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) last week announced new Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines. The new guidelines state children (5-11 years) and youth (12-17 years) require at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity activity per day while adults (18-64 years) and older adults (65 years and older) must get at least 150 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity per week.
