The 18th annual Kars Under the K Show and Shine will likely see its highest number of entries in recent years when it kicks off next Sunday morning at Memorial Park in Keremeos.
Co-organizer Dawn Stein said the one-day car show, which takes place along Main Street on Aug. 4 of the long weekend, is expecting roughly 150 antique and vintage cars, trucks, tractors, muscle cars, street rods, custom and classic cars.
The eye-catching car show, which usually sees visitors numbering in the hundreds, attracts people from outside of Keremeos, giving local businesses a bit of a boost, Stein said.

“Local businesses donate for spot prizes so visitors are going to these different businesses to pick up the prize from them, whether it is fruit or wine. They get a little bit more business that way as well,” she said.
“All the money raised, whether it is grant money, or people registering, or our vendors, it all goes out in local donations to the community.”
This is the third year Similkameen Elementary Secondary School students are participating by entering a vehicle of their own.
“It’s pretty, it’s washed, it’s clean. They put it in the show,” Stein said.
Kars Under the K, which is organized by Keremeos Legion and Elks, is not just about cars. It’s also about spending time with family and having fun.
Visitors can start their day off with a tasty pancake breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. and spend the afternoon in a beverage garden at the Royal Canadian Legion in Keremeos. They can also check out the vendors’ alley and listen to music presented by Thunder Alley Entertainment.

Kids have the chance to swim for free in the Similkameen recreation pool from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and have fun in the bouncy castle starting at 9:30 a.m.
Kars Under The K Show and Shine is a BC registered non-profit that has organized a car show every year for the past 18 years.
“We promote the restoration of all kinds of vehicles. We give a place where people can show off their vehicles, finished or unfinished. The car show is a family-oriented event with something for everyone, and a vendors’ alley. We have antique tractors and small antique engines on display.”
Registration is $20 and starts at 8 a.m. on Aug. 4. The show and shine runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
