Kids have plenty to do this summer in Keremeos

Aug. 5 to 9 camp for middle school-aged youngsters still receiving registrations

Being creative and having fun are the watchwords for the team creating a summer day camp experience for youngsters in the Lower Similkameen.

Led by Dragonfly Learning with support from the Keremeos Grist Mill and Gardens, the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen and Lower Similkameen Community Services, the team just wound up the first week in their summer day camp series.

An Aug. 5 to 9 camp for middle school-aged youngsters is still receiving registrations. Aug. 12 to 16 are the dates for the second camp for primary school-aged kids, also still receiving registrations.

All camps run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday with lunch provided. Cost is $150 for the week with some bursaries available.

The Regional District, Lower Similkameen Community Services, Cawston United Church as well as individual donors are sponsoring qualified kids.

Other local summertime experiences for local kids include the Summer Reading Club at the Keremeos library and the Okanagan Horse Sense equestrian experience for kids, which is offered periodically by Sheryl Hare.Tumble Bumble events, organized by Stacey Lebeau at LSCSS are ongoing and the 12th annual Kids Theatre program runs Aug. 19 to 23 at the Grist Mill.
