Cawston: You may huff and puff, but you won’t blow this winery down

Orofino is Canada’s first winery to be built using straw bales

Orofino Wines, located in Cawston, B.C., near Keremeos, is Canada’s first winery to be built of strawbales.

The proprietors chose this unique construction material because it made for walls 21-inches thick that are ideal for keeping the premises cool during the area’s hot desert climate.

Orofino is situated in the heart of Similkameen wine country, and features other amenities, including accommodation.
