To the Editor:
It was a great couple of months at the Keremeos rink! I skated 39 times during December and January with my family, and my teenage daughter skated additional times with her high school P.E. class. As well as the fresh air and exercise, my kids always found friends on the ice and it was a nice chance for parents to socialize.
The sponsored skates and the free skating passes helped to keep the ice time affordable. I saw many first generation Canadian children learning to skate and having a fun time on the ice, while sacrificing parents watched and shivered from terra firma.
Thanks to all the staff of the Rec Centre, the coaches of Mites Hockey, and Donna Bartlett of the Friends of the Rink for a wonderful winter!
