Belinda's Family would like to announce the passing of Belinda Mayer-Granger on February 4, 2020, at Orchard Haven Care Centre in Keremeos, BC at the age of 96.
Belinda was born in Medicine Hat Alberta, to Fred and Christina Mack. She was the second youngest of 8 children, with 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Her parents moved to Alberta from Bessarabia, Romania before Belinda was Born. She met her 1st husband, Melwin Mayer while he was a soldier in the Canadian Army, and later got married and bought a farm south of the Cypress Hills in Southern Alberta, where they had 7 children. Sharon ( Albrecht ), Garry Mayer, Sandra (Pinkney), Gerry (Andersen), Roger Mayer, Robert Mayer, and Peggy (Mutch).
In 1964 they moved to Keremeos and bought a farm south east of the Village. Belinda worked in the Similkameen Growers Packing house in Keremeos until her retirement when she was 56, at which time they sold the farm to their son Roger and his wife Donna. They built a new house near the farm and both retired enjoying many winters in Arizona until her husband's death in 1982. Belinda was always active with her church and helped with many Sunday School classes, and children's Christian programs. She had a strong faith in loving the Lord, praying daily for family and friends.
After a number of years after her first husband, Melwin passed away, she met Loyd Granger who she married and spent many years travelling to Arizona for the winter and visiting her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of Elm Tabernacle, and later Similkameen Christian Fellowship churches.
She was survived by all her children and step children except Sharon (Albercht), as well as 13 grandchildren and 17 great Grand children.
She was predeceased by her first Husband Melwin Mayer, and her second Husband, Loyd Granger, as well as her daughter Sharon. Also all her bothers and sisters.
She definitely was the Eveready Easter bunny of the family. She was always doing something, or going somewhere and loved singing songs and hymns from church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the New Beginnings Church, across from the Bear's Fruit stand in Keremeos on February 29th 2020 at 1:30 PM.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lowe and all the staff at Orchard Haven, and the South Similkameen Health Centre for their dedicated and compassionate care Belinda received in the last 3 years of her life. Your help and assistance is greatly appreciated.
In Lieu of flowers donations to the Orchard Haven Activity Fund, or the BC Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
