Water Works - Part 8 of Keremeos Irrigation District’s water bulletins

Continuing saga of Keremeos Irrigation District articles

The Similkameen Valley has given the residents of Keremeos some of the most beautiful scenery, clean crisp air and one of the best groundwater sources available in all of B.C.

The water that flows from your tap is clean and safe to drink without any chemical treatment. The water we pump out of the ground has been naturally filtered through the soils and gravels. As the water passes through this filtration, it absorbs minerals from the earth and increases the health value of the water.

Currently, the majority of residents in Keremeos pay only $289 for a year’s supply of water. The amount of water you use is currently un-metered, so for this reasonable annual charge you are able to meet all your water requirements. The rates of other local areas are as follows; such as Olalla ($345), Fairview Heights ($300) and Hedley ($320).

Many places in the Okanagan have been required to treat the water and use chemical processes to meet current Health guidelines. These include the City of Penticton, West Kelowna, Summerland and Peachland to name a few. Keremeos Irrigation District provides a good quality of water that naturally meets the same health guidelines. We all must do our part to ensure that our water supply stays safe so we can enjoy the good healthy quality and quantity at the low price.
