The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen will borrow up to $400,000 for the purchase of two fire trucks for the Naramata Fire Department.
At the April 21 regional district board meeting, the board gave first three readings to the bylaw.

The fire department would like to purchase a water tender at a cost of up to $325,000, as well as a previously approved purchase of a second truck. The loan is required for the purchase of the two trucks.
The rest of the money will come from reserve funds.
The purchase must go through the alternate approval process. If no more than 166 electors, or 10 per cent of the 1,663 eligible electors in the area, comment through this process by July 15, the purchase can proceed without going to a referendum.
Earlier in April, the regional district approved the purchase of a bush truck for the Naramata Fire Department, at a cost of $150,000.
