The agenda was light at last week’s October 17 regular meeting of Keremeos Village council.
The primary issue of business for council on Monday evening centred around a public hearing and ultimately third reading and adoption of revisions to the village’s zoning bylaw. An upgrade of the comphrehensive document has been underway since the beginning of the year.
Neither the public nor council had any major issues with the revised document, which was given third reading by council after the public hearing, which took place prior to the regular meeting.
It was noted by the mayor that the order of candidates to appear on the ballot for the November 19 election was to be determined by lot. An advance poll for the Village of Keremeos will be held on November 9 in council chambers.
A public open house regarding the Official Community Plan is slated for November 1 from 3 until 7 p.m. It was noted that seniors and students should be encouraged to participate in the open house.
During question period, councillor candidate Arlene Arlow questioned the wording in the Council Procedure Bylaw concerning meeting adjournment times for the revised meeting time of the second regular council meeting of the month from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. It was explained that the adjournment time was merely a guideline, and that council could decide on a meeting per meeting basis, how long the meeting should last.
