Update: three vehicle collision near Vaseux Lake

Highway is expected to re-open to traffic by 10:30 a.m.

Update 10 a.m.

A three vehicle collision that occurred at 8:10 a.m. tied up Highway 97 near Vaseux Lake on Monday morning.

Sgt. Blaine Gervais said a vehicle was stopped on the highway making a left hand turn into the campground when it was struck from behind by another northbound vehicle forcing the turning vehicle to cross the centre line and hit a southbound vehicle.

Gervais said there was extensive damage to all vehicles involved, but no serious injuries have been identified at this time.

Oliver RCMP said it is expected Highway 97 will re-open in approximately 30 minutes.

Drive B.C. has reported that lanes in both directions on Highway 97 are closed near Vaseux Lake.

A vehicle incident has occurred 12 kilometres south of the Junction with Highway 3 A.

There is no estimated time of re-opening.
