The Keremeos Education on Substance Abuse Committee will once again sponsor a hard hitting drama to be shown to senior students at Similkameen Elementary Secondary School on November 15 at 9 a.m. in the senior gym.

Part of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) multi-media school program, “Damages”  is a fictional story that opens in a courtroom where Jesse, a young man who up until recently had a promising future,  has been charged with four serious crimes. He is an impaired driver who caused a horrific car crash.

Damages will have an enormous impact on Similkameen students and will influence their own decision-making for years to come.

The presentation is being brought to the students following last year’s presentation of “Shattered” another hard hitting drama that is aimed at youth and the costs that poor decisions regarding drinking and driving have to their lives and futures.

Manfred Bauer, committeee Chairman since 2005, commented, “Programs like this one provide a great way to get the message across to youth of what damage substance abuse can do to their lives.” Bauer chairs the local group, which consists of eight members: Troyce Beglaw, Myrna Coates, Sherry Philpott- Adhikary, Ron Shonk, Andrea Massing, Dwayne Woloshnik and Tim Roberts.
