Smoke in Keremeos coming from Washington fire

Smoke that can be seen in the Keremeos area Friday afternoon is blowing in from a wildfire burning in Washington State.

A Kamloops Fire Centre spokesperson said they have received numerous calls Friday afternoon about the smoke in the area.

“There is a tonne of smoke but it is not coming from a Canadian wildfire,” a Kamloops information officer told the Review.

The smoke is blowing in from a fire near Diamond Creek (south west of Keremeos) which is in the Pasayten Wilderness

Diamond Creek is about 18 air miles north of Mazama, Washington.

The red marker is the approximate location the fire is burning.
