A local resident wants to warn citizens of a phone scam making the rounds in the Lower Similkameen.
“A young man who claims to be a favourite grandson calls to say he is down in Cancun, and has had an accident with a rental car. He needs money sent to him so he can pay the bill for damages before he is allowed to leave Mexico,” said the resident, who also notified Telus and Canada’s anti fraud centre.
“Apparently, they randomly pick a prefix and just start calling numbers,” said the resident.
