Over 150 Thanksgiving dinners were served from the Penticton Soupateria on Monday.
They were offering turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, and of course, pumpkin pie.
They also provided refreshments and other goodies in a takeaway format to keep everyone safe during the pandemic.
The community has truly come together to make sure every person who wants a Thanksgiving dinner will get one, said Christie Fiebelkorn on behalf of the Penticton Soupateria.
Guerard’s Furniture reached out to ask what they still needed and quickly they donated seasonal cookies, cupcakes and cranberry ginger ale.
“Our hearts are bursting at the seams from the kindness in this community,” she added.
Local realtor Gil Szabo made his annual donation of pumpkin pies, enough for all guests to enjoy.
The Soupateria, located at 150 Orchard Avenue, off Martin Street, serves meals 365 days a year, feeding up to 100 people per day. Food donations come in from local businesses, grocers, farmers and community gardens.
They served over 25,000 hot meals to people in need in 2020.
Soupateria relies solely on grants and donations from the community. If you would like to donate to Soupateria go to their website here or call 250-492-2415.
