Lots of fun planned for Family Day weekend

From Yellow Lake and ice fishing on Saturday to rock climbing and bowling on Monday - lots to do

From fishing to bowling and rock wall climbing there will be lots to do over the Family Day long weekend.

On Sat., Feb. 10 Go Fish BC along with eight regional recreational clubs including members from the Keremeos-Cawston Sportsmen Association will hold the annual free family ice fishing day at Yellow Lake.

The event attracts hundreds from all around the Okanagan and some from the Lower Mainland each year.

Everything is free at the event including the lunch. Kids and adults get to try their hand at ice fishing using poles and bait provided on-site. There will be lots of experts available to answer questions young and old have.

On Mon., Feb. 12 volunteers from Keremeos Search and Rescue are holding the third annual free Family Day event at the Similkameen Recreation Centre.

Families are encouraged to come out and use the facilities free of charge that day including the rock and wall and bowling lanes.

“We hope to see lots of families out and enjoying some time together,” said Darrell Taylor of Keremeos Search and Rescue.

The day starts at 10 a.m. and will run till 3 p.m. A barbecue will be available for lunch but is not free.
