Kids performance at Grist Mill Gardens

Upcoming fun day for kids at Keremeos Grist Mill

It’s going to be a fun and busy time in the gardens at The Keremeos Grist Mill this coming week.

Last August The Grist Mill kids got together to build their own storybook and then acted it out for an audience using costumes and fellow writers as actors.

The program happens August 15-19 from nine to noon at The Keremeos Grist Mill and Gardens, 2691 Upper Bench Road in Keremeos.

This year it will be a Box Theatre production.  Cardboard appliance boxes will be the theatre through which each youngster can produce their own short play. The audience of two looks in at the other end of the box.

There will be materials to decorate the set and lots of encouragement to write and act a short play.

Besides the writing and stagecraft there will be plenty of run around activity based upon theatre games.  Bob MacAtmney of The Cawston Players will lead the games again this year.

The short plays will be presented at 10:30 a.m. August 19 at The Grist Mill Tea House.

The kids theatre  program is presented by Similkameen Family Literacy, which is supported through Provincial Gaming Grants obtained by Lower Similkameen Community Services Society.

Registration is free by calling Cheri Mitchell at 250-499-2352.  Older teens and grownups are welcome to join in as volunteers.
