With community safety being the city’s No. 1 priority in 2022, residents of Penticton are being asked to contribute ideas and voice their opinions on the matter.

From Feb. 15 to March 6, people will have the opportunity to complete a 30-question public safety survey, the city announced on Tuesday (Feb. 15).

Plans to increase policing and review protective services were recently approved by the city and as a result, residents are being asked to shape the delivery of local RCMP, bylaw and fire services.

“The information gathered in the survey will help us focus our investments in protective services on the areas that matter most to the community,” said Penticton mayor John Vassilaki.

“We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute your voice on this important topic.”

The survey, conducted by an independent project team, is divided into five sections — Crime and Policing, Fire Department Services, Community Safety Officers, Future pressures and organization collaboration.

People are asked to visit shapeyourcity.com to complete the feedback form, or to pick up paper copies at the city’s public library, the community centre and city hall.

Though the results of the survey will be shared publicly, participation is anonymous and registration is not required.
