Curbside collection calendar mailouts delayed, causing consternation to regional district residents

RDOS slow to get curbside calendars to residents after new collection contract began

The delivery of Curbside Collection Calendars to some rural RDOS residents continues to be delayed due to reported backlogs at Canada Post. These calendars inform residents of the collection weeks for blue bag recycling and yard waste collection in Penticton, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and surrounding rural communities.

For residents in Keremeos and RDOS Electoral Areas, blue bag collection occurs the weeks of July 18 to 22 and August 15 to 22 on your scheduled collection day. The next Yard Waste collection for rural RDOS and Village of Keremeos residents occurs the week of August 8 to14, on the scheduled collection day for your area. On the scheduled weeks, participating residences can place out an unlimited amount of residential blue bag recycling or yard waste.

The delay in delivery has been frustrating for residents in areas where changes to collection weeks occurred on July 1. Affected communities include West Bench, Red Wing, Kaleden and Naramata which saw their recycling collection switch a week.

Residents can contact the RDOS or our waste provider, BFI Canada, to learn more about any changes of collection times in their area. The RDOS apologizes for any confusion this change of service may have caused and thank residents for their patience.
