Canada Post strike update; no strike activity this week

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) is required by law to give 72 hours’ notice of a strike. Given the current date and the status of the negotiations, CUPW has confirmed there will be no strike activity on May 25, 26 or 27.

Newspapers across the country have been preparing readers for a possible service disruption should a strike occur.

Negotiations continued through the long weekend, and both sides have indicated their commitment to reach a settlement. Canada Post was expected to respond to a global offer presented by CUPW on May 22, covering several areas including job security, wages and benefits, health and safety and staffing.
