Bauer elected vice chair at regional district

Two way contest for vice chair position, Pendergraft acclaimed to chair

Acting Regional District Okanagan Similkameen Chair Mark Pendergraft had no trouble retaining the Chairman’s seat at the regional district board meeting on July 4, but the Vice Chair position resulted in a bit of a contest.

Keremeos Director Manfred Bauer and Oliver Director Ron Hovanes squared off for the vice chair position, with Bauer winning the secret ballot held amongst the region’s 18 directors.

Both directors accented their regional perspectives in their brief speeches to the board.

The chair and vice chair positions are now split between the Okanagan and Similkameen valleys, and as before there is also representation between municipal and rural entities.
