Cats and dogs reign at Keremeos pet spa—give your pet the royal treatment

Our pets give us a lot in life. They are companions, comedians, sounding boards (the best listeners!), always ready for a treat, or a walk—and we love to give to them too. Keeping your pet happy and healthy means picking out the right food, the right bed and making sure that they look and feel their best.

Grooming your pet at home can be really challenging—for both of you. Cutting your own hair often doesn’t end well either. It’s so much better to go to an expert and the same is true for your pet too—and they deserve to be pampered a little bit!

Experience, knowledge, care—and looking great!

At Paw Spa in Keremeos, your cat or dog is treated like one of the family. Angela Agar, owner, took over the business in July, 2021 after being mentored by the previous owner. Angela brings an abundance of knowledge about animal care from working as a vet technician for five years and notes, “Working at the vet really has given me a lot of experience handling animals and insight into their health and dental issues.”

Angela says that her favourite thing about her job is, “seeing how some dogs prance around after their appointment—they know they look their best!”

She loved caring for animals but wanted to do something that was all about brining joy—it’s a perfect fit! With each grooming appointment, Angela checks ears, eyes and teeth for any potential health issues that might require veterinary treatment. Some breeds require particular skin care, such as bulldogs, while other puppers are super sensitive— a calming shampoo goes a long way for them along with a gentle and caring touch. Angela wants your best friend to feel pampered and she says that her favourite thing about her job is, “seeing how some dogs prance around after their appointment—they know they look their best!”

Of course, feline friends have their own grooming needs, and Paw Spa can help there too with waterless shampoos, nail trims, and even some clipping (depending on how cooperative your cat feels on that particular day). “Most animals are much calmer being groomed by a professional rather than by their owners—so everyone can relax,” notes Angela.
