The B.C. Winter Games are coming, and Penticton’s Curling Club saw plenty of action this weekend as teams from across the valley took to the ice.

Teams of junior boys made up of players from Kelowna, Salmon Arm, Enderby, and Lumby all made their way down to Penticton for a round-robin playdown ahead of the Winter Games.

Team Blaeser, with players from Vernon, Enderby and Lumby, led the group of three coming out of the round-robin Saturday. They took on Team Beaton from Kelowna and Vernon on Sunday, losing their first match 7-5 and their second 9-7, both after nine ends.

Team Tomlinson from Salmon Arm were unable to win a match in the round-robin and didn’t make it to the second day of competition.

Saturday also had a match-up between Penticton Girls’ Team Trip and the local Senior Women’s team on the ice of the Penticton Curling Club.

The game was a special practice for the girls ahead of their Winter Games playdown in Kelowna from Feb. 7 to 9.

A chance to play against more experienced competitors, the girls played through multiple ends of different scenarios.
