The entire South Okanagan has activated Stage 1 watering restrictions after a dry winter.

The restrictions are active across every electoral area and water system operated by the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen, the Village of Keremeos, the Towns of Oliver and Osoyoos and the City of Penticton.

The RDOS is asking for all users to reduce their water usage by 10 per cent.

The province saw a dry winter that left snowpack levels below the yearly average, which is fueling expectations of a drought declaration.

The International Osoyoos Lake Board of Control has already seen the flow forecast reach levels required for a drought declaration for Osoyoos Lake.

In the RDOS, even-numbered properties are allowed to water on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and odd-numbered properties on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Residents of Faulder on 104-190 Fish Lake Road, 8000 and 8008 Princeton Summerland Rd are allowed to water on Tuesday and Saturday, and all other properties in Faulder on Wednesday and Sunday.

In Keremeos, even-number addresses may only water on even-numbered days, while odd-number addresses may only water on odd-numbered days.

In Penticton, residents of odd-numbered street addresses may water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while even-numbered street addresses may irrigate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays only. No watering is allowed Mondays.

No watering on Mondays.

Townhouses and condominiums follow their street address, not their unit number. Only properties zoned RSM (Mobile Home Park) use their respective unit number in place of street address.

Irrigation times are as follows:

Automatic irrigation/sprinklers are permitted to run between 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. only on designated days.

Manual irrigation is permitted to run between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. only on designated days.

In Osoyoos and the connected Rural Watering Districts 8 and 9, even-numbered addresses are allowed to water on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday, while odd-numbered addresses are allowed to water on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.

Residents in the Town of Oliver are allowed to water on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for even-numbered addresses and on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday for odd-numbered addresses.

Watering times are also limited depending on which water system a resident is connected to.

In Oliver, residents can water for a maximum of two hours on each permitted day and only between 7 p.m. to 9 a.m.

In the RDOS, Keremeos, Osoyoos and Penticton, on permitted days residents are allowed to use automated systems to water between midnight and 6 a.m.

Manual systems in Osoyoos are allowed between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to midnight on designated days.

In the RDOS and the City of Penticton manual systems are allowed to water between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
