Hope Blooms in the latest exhibition presented by the Penticton & District Community Arts Council (PDCAC) and is open now.
From Thursdays to Saturdays, starting July 3, head down to the Leir House in Penticton to tour the exhibition from the Penticton Potters’ Guild.
The exhibition not only features the collection of functional and decorative pottery made during the pandemic, but there will also be free public demonstrations by the artists as part of the PDCAC’s Arts Matter program.
Featured potters include Eric Shawn Bayrd, Louise Beckett, Elie Bowles, Sanaz Busink, Tucker Cameron, Toni Cattani, Sharon Cromer, Gail d’Aoust, Lori Gillard, Linda Grant, Laura Kohut, Hilma LaBelle, Bobi McMillan, Jane Merritt, Cathie Peeren and Janet Ross.
Every piece is unique and created with love by the local artists. The exhibition is open for viewing Thursdays to Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 10, Bobi McMillan will be showcasing how to handcraft cats from clay. Learn about her process for glazing and cold finishing.
Bobi McMillian is a local potter and artist displaying her work in the Okanagan.
On July 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jane Merritt from Peace Pottery will demonstrate her methods for making press plates.
Finally, on July 24 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Linda Grant, Steve Palmer, and Gail d’Aoust will be outside in the courtyard at the Leir House working with pottery wheels.
The Penticton Potters’ Guild began in 1971 and has been based out of the Leir House Cultural Centre since 1980.
