This week is your last chance to help choose a name for Penticton’s craft beer scene.
Port Moody has Brewers Row, East Vancouver has Yeast Vancouver and now Penticton breweries want a name too.
Penticton’s eight brewery owners got together — over beers, of course — to come up with a catchy name that captures the laid-back beach vibe of Penticton’s beer community. But then they thought, after a few more beers, that they should take it to the public to help with a name, said Liam Peyton, operator of Slackwater Brewing.
The Penticton beer collective put out the naming contest on social media on Feb. 9.

So far, 1,376 people have suggested more than 4,000 name ideas, which has now been scaled back to the top four finalists.
Penticton is home to eight breweries, earning the prestigious title of Canada’s craft beer capital by travel guide Lonely Planet.
There is Neighbourhood Brewing, Slackwater, Tin Whistle, Abandoned Rail Brewing (opening spring 2022), Bad Tattoo, Barley Mill Brewpub, Cannery Brewing and Highway 97.
Now, it’s back out to you to vote for the best. Which name do you prefer?
• Brewticton
• PenCity Brewers
• Peach City Brewers
• Penticton Beer Blocks
To vote for your favourite, fill out this online form by Friday, March 18.
If your idea gets chosen, you win a gift pack valued at $500 with swag and goodies from all eight breweries.
St. Patrick’s Beer Crawl
A walking brewery tour starts at 2 p.m. on Thursday (March 17) across four different breweries followed by an after-party at the Barking Parrot, beginning at 6 p.m.
AC/DC tribute band High Voltage will make their way to the Penticton pub shortly after for a St. Patrick’s Day performance.
The four breweries are expected to bring their own specialty brews in recognition of St. Patty’s Day.
