Country Dance will be a feature of the second half of Fiddle Frazzles’s concert at the Cawston hall December 9.
It’s an old time pre-Christmas celebration with six musicians on fiddle and other strings.
Ron Wall and the Fiddle Frazzle ensemble of traditional musicians played at the Cawston hall two years ago, and the dancing was a major hit of the evening.
That’s not surprising. To kick up the heels to a lively fiddle tune was a delight to English and American country folk well into the twentieth century. It’s simple and fun.
It was called “old time dancing” to the generation of British Columbians who built and enlivened the many community halls built in the 1920’s and 1930’s. It was home grown music and home-grown fun.
Orignially constructed in 1922 , the Cawston hall has been the scene of countless such soirees over the years.
Fiddle Frazzle at The Cawston hall on December 9 opens at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7. Refreshments will be from the kitchen, with bar service courtesy of George Hanson of Seven Stones Winery.
Proceeds go to K Mountain Music Invitational Society who provide scholarships for young musicians in the Lower Similkameen.
