Cactus Jalopies event a huge hit at Osoyoos Lake

Around 10,000 people came out to see the unique custom cars that lined the beach

With the sun shining off the perfect paint jobs, around 600 classic cars, jalopies and hot rods lined the Osoyoos Lake shoreline attracting 10,000 spectators to ooh and awe over them on Saturday, June 3.

The return of the four day Cactus Jalopies event in Osoyoos was a huge hit, bringing in an estimated $1.5 million into the local economy.

There were show and shines, wine maker dinner, barbecues and beer gardens and a car garden tour in Cawston. There was a high-flying motocross show on Saturday. There was even some celebrities there. The hosts of Rust Valley Restorers were there to take in all the souped up vehicles.

The Cactus Jalopy event is quickly becoming one of Osoyoos’ biggest events of the year.

Teresa Simpson even got video of a true jalopy being driven into the show.
