Similkameen Elementary Secondary School was summer-quiet Friday, June 27, following the previous evening’s grad ceremonies.
Thirty-four members of the Class of ‘14 were given their parchment in a graduation ceremony that seemed little diminished in spite of a teachers lock out that left organization of the event to parents and administrative staff.
More than $31,000 was awarded to graduating students in bursaries and awards.
The graduating class also departed for Spokane on Friday during the Dry Grad field trip.
Support and administrative staff will be completing the end of school year duties, in the next couple of weeks, as a long summer of negotiations appears to in store for the B.C. teachers union and the provincial government.
