The Town of Oliver is celebrating its Light Up Dec. 3 where they will once again light up the Christmas tunnel at Lion's Park as seen here last year with this photo taken by Chelsea Gillis. (Facebook)

Get ready to welcome back Oliver’s Light Up on Friday, Dec. 3

The fun begins at Triangle Park Gardens at 6 p.m.

It’s almost time for Oliver’s Light Up festivities on Friday, Dec. 3.

The fun begins at Triangle Park Gardens at 6 p.m. with live music, hot chocolate and popcorn.

Then at 6:30 p.m., the lights will turn on all over town for the main event, with the sounds of the Oliver Fire Department siren.

In 2020, the town’s fire department started the tradition of sounding its siren at 6:30 p.m. to cue the official start of the light-up. Amid the tighter public health restrictions 12 months ago, the town’s fire hall decided to sound the hall’s siren and start a new tradition after the official Light Up gathering was cancelled.

But with the event back in action, people in attendance will get the best of both worlds — the fire hall’s siren at 6:30 p.m. along with the festivities that make up the town’s annual holiday event.

The event on Dec. 3 will also feature the lighting of the Town Christmas tree courtesy of Fortis.

Walk to Lions Park and stroll through the light tunnel and enjoy the carolling fire truck, bonfire, music and hot food vendors to cap off the night and welcome back the annual tradition in Oliver.

The Village of Keremeos is hosting their Light Up parade down Veteran’s Avenue on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
