Seventeen new kittens have arrived at Critteraid in Summerland and they need your help.
“There are three litters from what we are able to piece together from the rescue. The moms were dumped pregnant on a lady’s property but she wasn’t able to get anyone to help her. She reached out to us when some of the kittens were running out into the road,” explained Jess Byer with the Critteraid Animal Sanctuary.

The kittens are mainly orange and tabby with some “neat little Calico-tabby mixes.” One small female has a half orange and half tabby face.
The felines need to be socialized to humans, which will help them find successful forever homes, Byer added.
“The ones that are coming out of their shells are super, super sweet. We’re noticing a lot them just want affection. There are a few that need one-on-one care and attention. But we’re really impressed with how resilient they are.”
Right now, the sanctuary has 140 cats and they need people to come out and spend time with them.

To volunteer, those interested can fill in an application on the Critteraid website. Volunteers with the organization will get in touch to arrange a tour of the sanctuary.
“We have everything from cows to pigs to ducks to alpacas that call the sanctuary home. There are lots of facets for everyone to be involved with,” Byer said.
