Canada Post pulls off miracle

Crown corporation perhaps aided by a higher power

Say what you want about Canada Post – and people usually do – this institution pulled off a miracle for the Spotlight recently.

In truth, we’ve always had great and helpful service from the local post office.

The staff is friendly and accommodating and the service is efficient.

That is not everyone’s experience to be sure.

If you go to the crown corporation’s website there is a section where consumers post complaints – and they opine of everything from messed up deliveries to the accents they get to listen to when they call the post office for service.

Last week I received a letter from a friend in Ontario – it was one of those Christmas messages that updates all and sundry about life – who moved, who is going to university, who’s getting married and who’s having a grand baby.

My friend – she is not so much for social media, but she has a lot of faith.

She is also an extremely busy and sometimes forgetful priest in the Anglican Church of Canada.

The letter was addressed to Andrea DeMeer, Local Newspaper, Princeton, British Columbia

That was it.

No company name, no street address or post box number, and no postal code.

Yet it ended up in our slot at the Princeton post office.

We live in a big country, but it sure is nice to be in a small town.

Can’t stop looking at that envelope and thinking – Wow. Apparently there really is a God.
