Oliver’s town council has given approval to a development permit that would see a Dairy Queen go in with residential units.
During their regular meeting on Monday, April 12, council approved the development permit for the property.
“This development does address one of council’s strategic goals of filling the empty lots on Main Street,” reads the report.
The property was once the site of a gas station from the 1950s until 1998 on most of the property, with a single-family dwelling on the remaining section being demolished in 2009.
The proposal for the property would see a 60-seat Dairy Queen restaurant with a drive-thru built on the site, with an adjacent 1,900 square foot retail building and four two-bedroom residential units on a second floor.
In addition to the vehicle parking spaces, bicycle parking and storage would also be considered for the property, with a potential outdoor storage behind the residential units.
