BX-Swan Lake crews on day 2 of action

Firefighters have been busy battling a stubborn blaze at the Vernon landfill.

The fire broke out at the Greater Vernon Diversion and Disposal Facility on Birnie Road Monday, Jan. 8.

“Spontaneous combustion,” is the cause, according to fire chief Bill Wacey.

Crews managed to fully extinguish the fire Tuesday around 4 p.m.
