When the Okanagan Valley Throwdown comes to town, there’s sure to be three things on display: strength, agility and endurance.

But for the second year in a row, the competition that welcomes hundreds of athletes from across Western Canada will also coincide with a sports expo inside the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.

From rugby to cycling and even disc golf, groups from across the region will have booths set up at the second annual Penticton Sports and Fitness Expo on April 21.

The expo will happen during the Okanagan Valley Throwdown, which is entering its 11th year and challenges athletes of all ages to several CrossFit events.

Jennifer Metituk, an event coordinator at the ‘throwdown,’ says the sports expo will help bring people with common interests together.

“We’re thrilled to offer a platform where the community can come together to celebrate and explore the diverse world of sports and fitness,” Metituk said.

“Whether you’re looking to discover a new passion or connect with others who share your interests, the expo is the place to be.”

Other sports set to be featured at the expo include aquatics, dance, tennis, cross-country skiing, martial arts, scuba and lacrosse.

Event organizers hope the expo will also help people discover new interests.

“It’s about making it easy and enjoyable for everyone to take a step towards a healthier, more active lifestyle,” Metituk said.

The event is free to attend and will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
