Athletes from the Apex Freestyle Club have found region-wide success late in their
The club — based out of the Apex Mountain Resort about 45 minutes north of Keremeos — sent its youth skiers to the late-season competition, starting at an event hosted by the Sun Peaks Resort.
That’s where Lillian McCaughey, Lyla Ritchie and Charlie Longstreet swept the podium in the Big Air Super Youth F14 event, from Feb. 29 to March 1.
The local trio also competed at Sun Peaks in the Slopestyle Super Youth F14, with Longstreet capturing the gold medal, McCaughey bringing home silver and Richie finishing in fourth place.
At the Apex-hosted Timber Tour, meanwhile, local skiers combined to capture 10 medals, including three golds, from March 1 to 3:

• Jay Rudyk- fourth place
• Holden Duncan- sixth place
Singles Female 14
• Charlie Longstreet- gold medal
• Francesca Farcau- silver medal
• Lyla Ritchie- fifth place
• Lillian McCaughey- seventh place
• Emelie McCaughey- silver medal (Female 16). The local athlete also had a double-podium finish at the Red Deer-hosted Canada Cup in February.

Local success comes after the Apex Mountain Resort hosted the prestigious NorAm Cup Moguls Event, from Feb. 15 to 18.
The Apex Freestyle Club alumni were joined by other club athletes as on-course officials during the tournament, which featured 130 skiers from across the globe vying for World Cup spots.
