Welcome home: Penticton Vees return to the SOEC as Fred Page Cup champions

A large group of people greeted the team upon their arrival back to the Peach City

The Penticton Vees returned home Thursday in style, less than 24 hours after capturing their second consecutive BCHL championship on Vancouver Island.

With the newly won Fred Page Cup in hand, the team was greeted by a large crowd outside the South Okanagan Events Thursday, May 18, at around 6:30 p.m., upon their arrival in Penticton from Port Alberni.

The Vees completed a sweep of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday, May 17, thanks to a 4-1 victory in Game No. 4 of the Fred Page Cup Finals.

Thursday marked the second year in a row the team brought the Fred Page Cup to the SOEC after winning it on the road.

Penticton defeated the Nanaimo Clippers in four games in May 2022.

The Vees became the first team Wednesday since the 2011 Vernon Vipers to win back-to-back Fred Page Cup championships.

It’s the team’s sixth BCHL title since 2008.
