Year after year, numerous hockey tournaments have been held at the Summerland Arena, but the arena has not yet hosted skating competition — until now.

For the first time ever, the Summerland Figure Skating Club has been asked to organize and host a skating competition in Summerland.

The three-day event, which takes place Nov. 22 to 24, is expected to have around 300 skaters from all over the Okanagan competing.

Summerland skaters are anxiously waiting to compete in their own rink, and organizers are working hard through final preparations to get everything in order before the big weekend.

The club is asking anyone interested in volunteering to sign up to ensure that the weekend is successful. To volunteer, email summerlandskating@gmail.com.
