The relatively small community of Penticton has produced some big results in girls fastball throughout the Okanagan Valley.
The Penticton U12 girls team won gold in both Kamloops and Kelowna tournaments in addition to an amazing season in league play, having suffered just one loss.
“Head coach Kenna Green said: “There has been a huge resurgence for fastball in our community due to all the committed coaches, parent helpers and a active association. “We are producing a fun and competitive environment for our athletes to enjoy and they are telling their friends about it.”
The Kamloops tournament was a battle with teams from as far as Vancouver coming to compete. Missing one of their starting pitchers, Penticton Power had to play as a team and every player in every position contributed according to the coach.
“ Almost every game was a close fought battle some coming down to the final inning,” Green. “The gold medal game against Trail was an intense battle, our pitchers had to fight hard and our whole team pulled together for an 8-7 victory.”
MVP’s were award for the round robin games going to: Dani Green, Kailey Wrigglesworth and Amey Thompson.
The Kelowna tournament is always an intense and competitive. Losing only one game in the round robin Penticton finished second place and had a favourable draw for Sunday.

With exceptional pitching, catching, hitting and timely defensive plays Penticton Power earned their spot in the gold medal against Kelowna.

Up against a tough team with one of the strongest pitchers in the league, Penticton scored 10 runs and held the other team at bay in the last inning, for a 10-7 win.
MVP’s given award during the robin robin play going to: Dani Green, Jayden Ward, Skyla Buchanan and Avery Wilson.
