The Penticton Vees’ eight-game win streak ended on Friday night (March 18) after the team lost 5-2 on the road to the Cranbrook Bucks in B.C. Hockey League (BCHL) action.

Penticton (40-8-0-2) trailed the Bucks 2-1 after two periods of play but was able to find the equalizer early in the final frame, courtesy of a goal from Spencer Smith.

The Bucks would then go on to score three unanswered goals to shock the Vees and cruise to a 5-2 victory.

Penticton has lost just two games since Jan. 21.

A pair of extended win streaks in 2022 has solidified the Vees’ spot atop the BCHL’s Interior Conference.

Ryan Hopkins joined Smith in being the Penticton goal scorers on Friday night.

Cranbrook (28-19-2-3) was led by performances from Noah Quinn and Tyson Dyck, who each had multi-point efforts.

Quinn scored twice, including the game-winning marker, while Dyck posted four assists.

The Vees will play four more regular-season games before the start of the 2022 BCHL playoffs.

Before returning to the South Okanagan Events Centre for a pair of games on March 25 and 27, Penticton will meet once again with the Bucks in Cranbrook on Saturday (March 19) and travel south of the border to play the Wenatchee Wild on March 23.

Saturday’s game can be streamed on BCHL TV and heard on Bounce Radio 800, with puck drop slated for 6:00 p.m.
