The Penticton Vees booked their ticket to the B.C. Hockey League’s Interior Conference Finals thanks to a 3-2 victory against the Prince George Spruce Kings on Tuesday night, April 19.

Goals from Bradley Nadeau, Thomas Pichette and Adam Eisele propelled the Vees to a sweep of the Spruce Kings in Game No. 4 of the playoffs’ second round.

After opening the scoring early in the first period, Penticton wouldn’t find the back of the net again until the final frame when Pichette broke a 1-1 tie. Eisele would then extend the team’s lead to 3-1 shortly after, scoring the eventual game-winning goal.

The Vees have opened the scoring in seven of their nine playoffs games in 2022.

Kaeden Lane stood tall yet again in the Penticton crease, making 27 saves and collecting his eighth-straight playoff victory.

Rowan Miller was the only Spruce Kings goal scorer on Tuesday night, finding the back of the net twice in front of 943 people at Prince George’s Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

The best-of-seven series win is the Vees’ second of the playoffs, prompting a pending appearance in the Interior Conference Finals. Penticton has only lost one game, the first of the playoffs against the Trail Smoke Eaters. Shaking off the first game jitters, Penticton would go on to defeat the Trail Smoke Eaters in five games before meeting with the Spruce Kings in the second round.

The Vees will play either the West Kelowna Warriors or Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the playoffs’ third round.

While Penticton would go on to complete a four-game sweep in its series, West Kelowna has the opportunity to do the same tonight.

A Warriors win on Wednesday, April 20, will confirm a conference finals matchup with the Vees.

Thanks to owning the league’s best record during the regular season, Penticton will have home-ice advantage in the third round. As a result, the first two games of the next series will be played at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Scheduling for the next round is expected to be released shortly after the conclusion of the Warriors and Silverbacks series.
