The Penticton Vees are off to their best start in franchise history.
Penticton clinched its 12th straight victory on Wednesday night, Oct. 26, after a 4-3 overtime win against the Cranbrook Bucks at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
Prior to the 2022-2023 campaign, the team had never started a season with so many wins in a row.
The Bucks looked poised to spoil Penticton’s party after taking a 3-1 lead in the second period. The Vees, though, would storm back with three unanswered goals, including the overtime winner from Bradly Nadeau.
For the second time in three games, the Vees (12-0-0-0) used a two-goal comeback to extend their now record-setting winning streak. The team launched a comeback last week to stun the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at the 2022 BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.
More than 2,700 people at the SOEC watched Nadeau’s brother, Josh, as well as Thomas Pichette and Frank Djurasevic, round out the Penticton scoring on Wednesday night.
Vees goaltender Luca Pasquo made 22 stops, including a pair of game-savers in overtime.
Penticton — who remains the only undefeated squad in the BCHL — has won 28 games in a row, dating back to last year’s playoff run.
Cranbrook goaltender Nathan Airey faced a whopping 55 shots, including 27 in the first period alone.
Wednesday night marked the first time this season that the Vees had surrendered the first goal of the game.
Penticton hits the road Friday night when they battle the West Kelowna Warriors (8-1-2-0) at Royal LePage Place.
The Vees and Warriors are ranked No. 1 and 2 in the Interior Conference standings.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
