Beginning on Dec. 3, the Penticton Vees will be back to hosting 100 per cent of the capacity at the South Okanagan Events Centre, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The news comes in the wake of the PHO announcing earlier in the day that capacity restrictions had been lifted in the Interior Health region.

The PHO stated on Tuesday that any place that uses the BC Vaccine Card Program can host 100 per cent of its capacity.

The Vess have required fans to show proof of vaccination when attending games during the 2021-2022 season, meaning that the PHO’s announcement on lifting restrictions applies to the SOEC and the team’s home games.

Penticton hosts the Cranbrook Bucks on Dec. 3, the first game at the arena in nearly 21 months that will be able to host a full capacity audience.

The team’s game against the Bucks is also the annual Teddy Bear Toss and the Salvation Army will be in attendance to collect donations.

“Fans are encouraged to bring new or lightly used stuffed toys, pajamas, socks, mittens, toques and diapers (new in packaging) to chuck onto the ice after the Vees’ opening goal of the night,” the team said in a statement on Tuesday.

Even though capacity restrictions have been lifted, the team is reminding fans that they are still required to follow the health and safety requirements that have been in place throughout the pandemic when attending live events.
