The Penticton Vees’ are gearing up for the preseason with multiple exhibition games in September.

The Vees’ annual intrasquad Peaches Cup game is also returning, free for the public, on Sept. 3.

The split-squad game starts at 5:30 p.m. and features returning players as well as new recruits. The game will be held at the South Okanagan Events Centre and will be open to all.

Tickets for the Vees’ three BCHL exhibition games are also on sale. Local youths 18 and under, and children 12 and under with a parent or guardian, are free to attend courtesy of Vees’ sponsor Peter Bros.

Tickets are available online at www.valleyfirsttix.com or in person at the Valley First box office at the SOEC for $10 a ticket for adults and seniors.

Season ticket members can also pick up their exhibition tickets at the Valley First box office starting Aug. 29.

The first exhibition game starts Sept. 9 in Penticton when the Vees take on the Vernon Vipers at 7 p.m. The Interior Division rivals have a rematch in Vernon on Sept. 16,and the exhibition series concludes with a matchup between Penticton and the Chilliwack Chiefs on Sept. 17, at 2 p.m.

Don’t forget that ‘Free Fred from the Treadmill’ goes Wednesday, Aug. 31 starting at 9 a.m.

Head coach Fred Harbinson has been “suspended” by the team, so they say, until 30 new season tickets are purchased for the 2022-2023 B.C. Hockey League season.

Harbinson will be confined to a treadmill in front of the South Okanagan Events Centre on Wednesday, Aug. 31, and the only way he can go back to his coaching duties is if the team sells 30 new season tickets.
