Against all odds, a Penticton girls hockey team glided their way through a playoff run in Kamloops earlier this month to capture the U13 Female Super League Championship.

From March 11 to 13, the U13 Jr. Vees girls squad hit the ice in the league’s playoffs shorthanded, competing with fewer players than any other team in the tournament.

That, combined with COVID-19 restrictions earlier in the season, is why the team is calling their 2021-2022 season a “resilient” one.

The team finished the season with a dominant 13-1-1 record, capping it all off with a Female Super League title.

Brett Brodt led the girls’ squad who scored five goals and two assists during the team’s playoff weekend in Kamloops.

Along with being crowned playoff champions, the team was also credited with owning the league’s best regular-season record.
