Two Kaleden field lacrosse players are East Coast-bound.

Owen Byers and Callum Turpin, who play out of the Penticton Minor Lacrosse Association (PMLA), have been named to Team B.C. ahead of this year’s AA Platinum Cup tournament in Frederica, Delaware, set for June 10 and 11.

The pair of Kaleden athletes will represent B.C. in the U16 division, with each team set to play five games over the course of the weekend.

“PMLA couldn’t be more proud of these two,” the local group wrote on Facebook about Byers and Turpin. “Consistently showing up and making it happen. Well done!”

While Byers is a goaltender and has suited up for Team B.C. in the past, Turpin plays in an attacking role and is making his debut with the squad this weekend.

More than 120 NCAA coaches will be in attendance for the AA tournament.

The Platinum Cup is in its 11th year and welcomes the top teams from Canada and the United States across all divisions.

The U16s from B.C. this weekend will be coached by Ian Radonich.
