Pair of B.C.-born prospects choose to stay home, commit to Penticton Vees

Two of B.C.’s top junior hockey prospects will stay in their home province next season and suit up for Fred Page Cup winning Penticton Vees.

Hiroki Gojsic and Gabriel Guilbault have committed to the Vees for the 2022-2023 B.C. Hockey League season after each spending time representing the province at a recent Western Canadian tournament in Red Deer, Alta.

“We are excited to have two of the top 2006-born players from our province commit to our team,” said Fred Harbinson, the Vees’ head coach, general manager and president. “They both had terrific seasons and will add to our strong group of returning players.”

Gojsic, a 15-year-old forward, comes to Penticton following a successful stint at Vancouver’s St. George’s School, where he posted a team-leading 29 goals and 22 assists in 51 games played.

Guilbault spent the last three seasons with the Burnaby Winter Club as a defenseman.

Both individuals appeared in games for Team BC at the WHL Cup, a recent tournament that featured some of the country’s best 2006-born players.
