Four Similkameen Elementary Secondary School athletes participated in the first ever High School Championship triathlon held on May 26 in Shawnigan Lake, B.C.
The students competed in the Super Sprint category for ages 13 to 15 years, which consisted of a 500 metre swim, 10 kilometre bike ride and a four kilometre run.
Topping the list for local contestants was Keremeos student Noah Beglaw, who completed the course in a time of 44:30, followed by Kassidy Todd (52:46),Mackenzie Lawrence (53:39) and Sydney Wabnegger (1:00:09).
SESS English and Drama instructor Scott Tremblay, who is no stranger to the sport of triathlon, completed the Shawnigan Lake Half Iron (swim 1.9 miles, bike 88 kilometres, run 21 kilometres) fourth overall and first in his age division with a time of 4:25:24.
