A former Cawston resident was stabbed in the back when he returned to the area uninvited.
Keremeos RCMP detachment Brian Evans said police received a call about the stabbing on Friday, February 10 around 5:30p.m.
“The man came back and was not welcome. They got into an altrication and he got stabbed,” Evans said. “The victim wastransported to Penticton and it was determined to be minor injuries. It appeared much worse on arrival because of theamount of blood.”
Evans said it’s suspected that the men involved were known to each other.
“It appears there is no risk to the public from that standpoint,” he said.
The investigation is still underway and charges are pending.
From a stabbing on Saturday night to a serious collision Saturday morning officers were kept busy.
On Saturday morning about 10:30 a.m. a single vehicle collision occurred on Highway 3A near Upper Bench Road.
The driver, an 18-year-old Cawston man, was seriously injured and air lifted to Kelowna hospital. The man remains inhospital. Evans said the young man is expected to survive.
The passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries and was taken to Penticton hospital and released.
Evans said the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
The vehicle, which was travelling towards Penticton, veered into the ditch to the east and then came across the road andtravelled deep into an orchard on the west side.
“Quite a bit of the fence was destroyed and he went quite a ways into the orchard. It kind of pin balled, I guess, into thetrees,” he said.
Evans noted the weather was nice the roads were clear and dry at the time of the collision. He said alcohol was not a factorand that witnesses did not think the vehicle was speeding.
The holiday long weekend ended with another serious collision at about 11 p.m. Monday night.
A single vehicle collision occurred on Highway 3 near Sunkatchers RV Park.
A 21-year-old woman from Kaleden lost control lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a hydro pole. Thevehicle flipped over and was spotted by another motorist moments later who helped the woman out of the vehicle and tookher to the Keremeos hospital centre.
The woman received minor injuries but was treated and released.
