Volunteers sought for cat program

cat, keremeos

To the Editor:

Similkameen Cat Spay/Neuter Program started up in Keremeos in the fall of 2007.  Since its beginning, the volunteers have helped find homes for many abandoned cats and kittens, and have also helped provide lower cost spays/neuters for cat owners in the Similkameen area.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with various tasks on an occasional basis including fundraising (yard sales or bottle/can collection), fostering kittens, temporary care for adult cats until permanent homes can be found and driving cats to and from the vet in Penticton for spay/neuter appointments.

You must have love and respect animals, and cats in particular, be reliable, responsible, and be willing to work with others that have similar interests.  Having a reliable vehicle would also be appreciated!

If you are at all interested, please contact Joni Heinrich at 250.499.7174.  A meeting of all interested people will be scheduled to discuss the local area needs and how the program can continue.  Training and support will be provided.
