Safe Homes correction

To the Editor:

To the Editor:

The Review’s January 20 issue carried an article titled “Agency Seeks Safe Homes”, written by me. While the article correctly identifies the agency as the South Okanagan Women in Need Society, and provides the correct contact information (Lynn Kelsey, Safe Home Coordinator, 250-493-4266, Ext. 114), I included an incorrect acronym for them.

The society’s correct acronym is SOWINS, not SOVAS. (SOVAS is the acronym for South Okanagan Victim Assistance, another agency with which my office works closely, but which is not involved in the Safe Home program.)

I apologize to SOWINS and to the paper’s readers for this error. I know SOWINS looks forward to hearing from anyone interested in more information about their valuable program, and how it contributes to the safety of Keremeos-Cawston area residents. If any readers missed seeing the article, I can provide a corrected copy.

Ron Shonk, Keremeos RCMP Victim Services Coordinator
